What Does Your Company Stand For?
Does your company stand for anything? Do you just go to work each day to, ‘make money?’ If you don’t have an answer, why not?
The best place to find it, if there is one, is in an organization’s Mission Statement. Too many mission statements though are simply great places to collect a bunch of fancy words used to simply obfuscate any underlying meaning. Hmm. Obfuscate: to confuse, hide the meaning of, be ambiguous.
Google has a 10-point Philosophy. The most famously quoted is, ‘…do no evil.’ While one might question this basic tenet, it is there, it is understood, and it can be used to help align the organization toward a common purpose.
Even if your organization has lost its way, its never too late to start on a path toward recovery. Maybe this is part of what Google’s doing today, with it’s recent stand against Chinese censorship. Is what Google’s doing noble? It’s an interesting question. See what HBR has to say in, “Why Is Google Doing Government’s Job?”

G’Wave, Not Exactly a Crescendo
Simple, short post today. I’ve spent a modest amount of time with Google Wave in recent days, since finally receiving my very own personal invitation granting access to the service. You see, if you weren’t aware, you can only use ‘Wave if Google grants you access.
Unfortunately, as they take care not to unwittingly overwhelm their new system, it means very few people actually have been let in the front door. Some of the early developers, such as O’Reilly have already released the first books on this new platform.
But, for most, the experience is like mine. Of 2,900 contacts, only -4- have access to the ‘Wave. Hard to test collaboration, explore, experiment, or take it for a spin quite yet.
It shows potential. For the moment, simply need to be patient.
Still Watching, Thinking, the ‘Wave
Somewhat abated, since its introduction a few weeks back now, Google Wave continues to generate discussion about just what it is. Andy Mulholland’s post over at Capgemini talks about this. Is it a new collaboration platform? Is it a new email solution? Is it a new photo gallery manager? Is it a new blogging alternative? Is it a new project management tool? Yes?

Seen The ‘New’ Wave Yet?
For years, when I thought of the ‘wave’ in a marketing context, I thought of Coca-Cola. Well, the old wave is about to be trumped by a New Wave. And it isn’t from Coke.
May 28, Google provided developers with an introduction to a new product due yet this year, called Google Wave. You can learn more at wave.google.com.
